Welcome to our Kangaroo Farm!
For foreign visitors, your trip to Australia wouldn’t be complete without seeing some Kangaroos. What better way to do it at the centre of the country, at Erldunda Roadhouse.
We recently welcomed four kangaroos into our Erldunda family. All of them have been rescued and were raised from small joeys, are now happy, healthy ‘roos. We keep them safe and secure in our environment. They are more active during dawn and dusk, so you are likely to find them hanging out near our sunset viewing platform.
DID YOU KNOW?
If you’ve never been around a kangaroo, here are some facts to familiarise you with them:
Most kangaroos are found in Australia, with each species having its own place to call home. For instance, grey kangaroos like the forests of Tasmania and Australia, while musky rat kangaroos like to stay in the rainforests of North-eastern Queensland.
Kangaroos in a single social group groom and protect each other from danger. If one senses danger, it will stomp its foot on the ground to warn the others. It will use its boxing and kicking skills to fight an opponent.
If you’re ever around Erldunda, make sure to visit our humble kangaroo farm and say hello to our little hopping friends.
